Medved: Jelly Beans in Space?

This is my quote for the day:

These white-black-Latino-Asian characterizations, so adored by bureaucrats and race hustlers, diminish our humanity, ignoring individual differences and life histories and shrinking people to the status of color-coded jelly beans.

Jelly beans!  That's just how I feel many times filling in applications that ask about race...a jelly bean.

The Media’s Top 10 Economic Myths of 2006

The Business and Media Institute has a new report out on the Media's top 10 economic myths of 2006. Take a look at the full list and answers.

10. American manufacturing is obsolete
Media myth: All the manufacturing jobs have been shipped overseas, and the only ones left are in the almost empty plants of the Big Three automakers.

9. The American dream has become a nightmare
Media myth: It’s no use trying, because you’ll never achieve the American dream.

8. You can’t be trusted with a fork and spoon
Media myth: From your morning doughnut to your afternoon potato chips and your evening burger, the government should stop you from killing yourself.

7. Wages are stagnant
Media myth: Workers are getting left behind in economic growth.

6. Global warming doom grows ever nearer
Media myth: We have passed the “tipping point” on global warming. The U.S. had better pay up – and we don’t have much time.

5. Increasing the minimum wage will help the millions of poor workers
Media myth: U.S. workers are barely getting by, and it’s past time for a minimum wage increase after all these years.

4. The housing bubble has burst
Media myth: A U.S. housing slowdown means the market is crashing down and the rest of the economy isn’t far behind.

3. Bird flu is going to kill us all
Media myth: Stockpile your drugs (and everything else) now, because bird flu is coming and it’s going to get ugly.

2. Gasoline is a conspiracy - going up or coming down!
Media myth: Big Oil is conspiring to spike gas prices and stick it to the consumer. Wait! No! Big Oil is conspiring with Republicans to bring gas prices DOWN before the election!

1. The U.S. economy is hopeless - again
Media Myth: The average American knows that the economy is bad and not getting better.

That's how you do it -- one myth at a time. The moral of the story -- think before you believe everything you see on TV or read on the Internet.

The week that Washington decided to let the Islamic Republic of Iran go nuclear

This has to be the scary quote of the century. What will our world look like 10 years from now? What will it look like 5 years from now? I'm not sure anymore.

CAROLINE GLICK: "When the history of our times is written, this week will be remembered as the week that Washington decided to let the Islamic Republic of Iran go nuclear."

Read the whole article -- its a write up on a historical moment in our times with long term repercusions.

With the publication of the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group chaired by former US secretary of state James Baker III and former congressman Lee Hamilton, the debate about the war in Iraq changed. From a war for victory against Islamofascism and for democracy and freedom, the war became reduced to a conflict to be managed by appeasing the US's sworn enemies in the interests of stability, and at the expense of America's allies.

Update: Just discovered that Townhall's search function is working!!

Just found this post by Hewitt from the archives as well as this quote:

...as a former Iranian leader tours the U.S. with a State Department issued visa conducting joint appearances with CAIR on our own soil, I’m pretty sure history is vomiting.

And for anyone interested in wasting good time on worthless blabber, you can get the full ISG report for free from Audible.com.

Questions I have...

Hi there. Just getting started here. I'm not sure what I'll write about, but I'm sure I'll think of something. I'm curious about a lot of things politics.

I have two goals -- debate and talk about ANYTHING I want, and not reveal who I am. That's it.

Join in, share your thoughts, ad me to your blogroll if you'd like. I hope to remain respectfull, and maintain an even decore, though I am also passionate, so I may let lose from time to time.

That's it for now...
